Prepared to talk to your employees about opioids?

It’s a topic many employers have avoided or are unsure how to address with employees: the opioid epidemic. Almost a quarter of a million Blue Cross and Blue Shield members were diagnosed with opioid use disorder in 2017.

Astonishingly, Americans are more likely to die of an opioid overdose than a car crash. In Arkansas, one life is lost every two days in an opioid-related death. And it’s affecting employers of every kind.

The human cost of the opioid crisis is significant and weighs on our communities, workplaces, and families. That’s why we’ve created a new coalition, Together Arkansas, with the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce and AFMC, to provide employers with a toolkit of workplace resources, free of charge, to help them prepare, prevent and respond to the opioid crisis.
